James with Pope John Paul II
These photographs are from Osservatorie Romano, the official news organ of the Vatican.
They document one of James Niederberger's several visits to
the Vatican
seeking discernment of George
and of what comes from George's pen.
The Pope
definitely knows about the situation surrounding George.
These jpegs were scanned from a color copy of the photos obtained from Osservatorie Romano.
The copy itself became a bit wrinkled from being carried around by me for some time.
Here is eye contact.
Here one can clearly see that not only is James talking to the Pope but, more significant,
the Holy Father is listening.
James is asking him, "Holy Father, can I stay with you while you make your decision about
George and John Mark?"
Here Pope John Paul II has moved on to the next person in the crowd but he is still
listening to James!
The look on his face indicates the seriousness with which he is considering what
James is saying to him.
The answer James received from the Holy Father to his request was that we must all pray very
much.
